Wygryny was founded in 1711 between Lake Wygryńskie, also called Jezioro Wygryny, and Lake Bełdany.
Nature
A 9 km hiking and cycling route passes through Wygryny. It runs from Ruciane-Nida via Guzianka and Wygryny to Kamień.
Kadzidłowo is located in the area surrounding Wygryny. Szeroki Ostrów is also located nearby.
Culture
Wygryny is home to wooden Masurian cottages dating from the late 19th century.

Wygryny is directly connected to Ruciane-Nida by county road 1646 N; regional road 610 runs nearby.
A 7 km red ski route connects Ruciane-Nida with Wygryny and includes viewpoints overlooking Lake Bełdany in winter.
Wygryny is also located on the 39 km red Bełdany Loop. It runs from Ruciane-Nida through the Guzianka lock, Wejsuny, Iznota and Wygryny before returning to Ruciane-Nida.
