In the area surrounding Siła lies Olsztyn – 14th-century castle; the Janusz Kusociński Park is also located nearby. In the wider regional area lies Ostróda – 14th-century Teutonic Castle. Gietrzwałd is regarded as a pilgrimage site in connection with the Marian apparitions of 1877 and lies on a route to sites of Marian devotion.

Within the municipality associated with Siła, the Pasłęka flows through Gmina Gietrzwałd; a beaver reserve is located on this river. Gmina Gietrzwałd is described as being situated in the central part of the Olsztyn Lake District, between 14 lakes, cultivated fields and forests.
Transport
Gmina Gietrzwałd is located on National Road 16, which the tourism office describes as the “Road of the Thousand Lakes of the North”. The municipality is also served by a railway line built between 1871 and 1873.
