Klebark Wielki is historically associated with Nicolaus Copernicus: he settled Polish colonists here in 1517 and 1521 while serving as administrator of the Olsztyn chapter.

History and Culture

On 4 September 1587, the Warmian Chapter formally approved the division of the settlement. Klebark Wielki and Klebark Mały were then established as two independent villages. A parish school already existed in 1582, where Bartłomiej from Pułtusk taught; parish priests are also documented for the 16th century.

The surroundings of Klebark Wielki include Olsztyn - Zamek XIVw. and Janusz Kusociński Park. The wider regional area includes Dąbrowa and the Collegiate Basilica.

Other places at the same higher administrative level include Biesal, Swaderki, Myki, Tumiany, Łajs, Wadąg, Włodowo and Naterki.
