Kaplityny is a village in Warmia, located in Poland’s Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in Olsztyn County and the municipality of Barczewo.

History

The village’s medieval origins are documented: Kaplityny is mentioned in records from 1364. The place name is connected with the Prussian family name Kaipletyn.

Culture and Surroundings

Olsztyn Castle, dating from the 14th century, is located near Kaplityny. Janusz Kusociński Park is also situated nearby. The Bazylika Kolegiacka is located in the wider regional area.

Nature

The historic settlement of Kaplityny was established on the Sortex stream, which corresponds to the Kiermas River today. Fishing rights existed on Lake UmlÄ…g.
