Kochanówka is located in Warmia, in Lidzbark County, in the southern part of the municipality of Lidzbark Warmiński. The village lies on the Kirsna River on the Jeziorany-Bisztynek Upland.

Its location on the Kirsna River and on the Jeziorany-Bisztynek Upland forms the geographical setting of Kochanówka.

History

Kochanówka was founded between 1333 and 1342; the foundation charter dates from 1362. The parish church of St. Lawrence stands on a hill in the centre of the village. The present brick church was consecrated in 1925, after earlier churches had already stood on this site. The current building is an unplastered red-brick structure with three naves, a polygonal presbytery and a western tower.

Culture

In the vicinity of Kochanówka are Lidzbark Warmiński – Bishops’ Castle, 14th century, the Collegiate Basilica and Lidzbark Warmiński: St. Peter & Paul. In the wider regional area are Olsztyn – Castle, 14th century and Janusz Kusociński Park.
