Discover Undenäs: church, disc golf and hiking trails

Undenäs can be explored for trip planning through three specific interests: local history, hiking and disc golf. Undenäs kyrka is often called “Tiveden’s cathedral”; the Undenäsleden is 16 km long, marked in blue and can be hiked in either direction. There is also a disc golf course with five baskets in the Unneboområdet area, where play is free. Church and history in Undenäs

Undenäs kyrka was consecrated on 22 April 1894. The former wooden church burned down in an arson attack in 1890; four years separate the two events. The small church museum inside the church displays objects from the 1948 excavation of the old church site. Hiking: Undenäsleden and Västra Vätterleden

The Undenäsleden is 16 km long, marked in blue and can be hiked in either direction. The trail offers views of Lake Viken, which is used by Göta Canal boat traffic. The Västra Vätterleden also passes Undenäs hembygdsgård. This gives you different points of reference for comparison: the Undenäsleden is notable for its length, markings and lake views, while the Västra Vätterleden is notable for its route past the hembygdsgård. Getting to the Undenäsleden

There is a large car park at the starting point of the Undenäsleden, with access roads from Svanhultsvägen and Stråhlevägen. Bus route 420 connects Karlsborg, Forsvik, Undenäs and Sätra bruk; the “Stråhlevägen” stop is on Svanhultsvägen. When finding your way, note the difference between the street and stop names: the stop is called “Stråhlevägen” but is located on Svanhultsvägen. Check the current timetable for route 420 before travelling and plan your journey around your preferred starting point. The car park, access roads and bus stop each offer different reference points for planning.

Disc golf in Unneboområdet

The Undenäs disc golf course is located in the Unneboområdet area of Undenäs and has five baskets. Play is free, and discs for this course can also be borrowed free of charge from Ica Lanthandel Undenäs. The opportunity to play and the option to borrow equipment should therefore be considered separately: the first concerns using the course, while the second concerns equipment. Compared with the Undenäsleden, disc golf is a different type of activity: here, the five-basket course and free equipment loan are the main features, while the hiking trail stands out for its length, markings and views. This lets you choose your focus based on the activity you want.
