Discover Trädet: Pilgrim Trails, Nature Paths and Farm History
Accommodation in Trädet
In Trädet, hiking trails and farm history go hand in hand. Kronogården is an authentic 19th-century farm. A barn houses an agricultural museum, alongside an exhibition about Trädet’s brewery. This brings together rural history and another local topic in one place. When planning your trip, you can combine farm culture and hiking.
The Pilgrim Trail and Redvägsleden
The Pilgrimsleden norra Ätradalen is 39 kilometres long and starts at Kronogården in Trädet; it leads to Skottek in the southern part of Ulricehamn city centre. In a broader regional context, it connects Falbygden and the Ätradalen valley. It is marked with posts bearing the Saint Olof cross. The stated route connects Kronogården as its starting point with a destination in the southern part of the city.
Redvägsleden offers a different point of comparison: it is 47 kilometres long and runs between Lassalyckan and Trädet. Along part of the route, it follows the winding course of the Ätran through the Ätradalen valley. This route can also be started at Kronogården in Trädet. There are several rest areas with fire pits and wind shelters for overnight stays along Redvägsleden. On the section where it runs parallel to Dalumsleden, Redvägsleden is marked in yellow. The two routes therefore differ in both length and their described courses and starting and finishing points.
Nature Paths and Landscape
The Kronogården nature paths start and end at Kronogården in Trädet. They run alongside horse paddocks, fields and meadows. The shorter Kronogården trail is 1.9 kilometres long, adapted for accessibility, and suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. This gives you a clear range of options: the shorter trail is 1.9 kilometres, compared with 39 kilometres for the Pilgrimsleden and 47 kilometres for Redvägsleden. If you want to take into account a route explicitly stated to be suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, the shorter trail is the right option.
Frälsegården lies south of Trädet. There, the Ulricehamnsåsen ridge stands out clearly in the form of ridges and hills. Frälsegården is on the road between Falköping and Ulricehamn; there is a car park and an information board on a small access road into the protected area. The ridges and hills thus add a different landscape to the fields and meadows along the nature paths.
A Cycling Route in the Wider Travel Area
In the wider travel area, Ätradalsleden adds a cycling route to the hiking options. It is 199 kilometres long and runs between Falköping and Falkenberg; 146 kilometres of it follow a disused railway line that is entirely traffic-free. This gives you two different ways to get around when planning your trip: hiking trails around Kronogården and a long cycling route in the wider travel area.
