Tollered: Accommodation between industrial heritage and swimming lakes
Accommodation in Tollered
Tollered, in the municipality of Lerum in Västra Götaland, combines the history of Nääs Fabriker with trips to the surrounding lakes. A hotel, holiday apartment or holiday home can serve as a starting point for a cultural history walk, a hike or a visit to a swimming area. The key is which of these activities is your priority during your stay.

Explore the industrial village on foot
The village’s character was shaped by Nääs Fabriker. Factory buildings, homes, inns, shops, a clinic, a fire station and mills are among the surviving traces of the former industrial village. Rather than viewing just one building, you can follow how work, housing and services fit together.
For independent exploration, the Nääs Fabriker app offers text and images as well as a historical walking tour of Tollered. There are also history signs in the village and marked hiking trails. If you prefer to explore with a guide, tours of the industrial village can be booked year-round; an agreed appointment is required.
Tollered Öfvre Power Station is managed by a museum association as an industrial heritage site. Anyone interested in visiting the museum should get in touch beforehand by phone or email. This is a separate visitor activity and does not guarantee that the station will be open during every walk.
Circular trails or the stage to Norsesund?
Nääs Fabriker describes three circular trails of three, 5.4 and eight kilometres, all starting there. The different lengths make it easier to choose based on the time available and the distance you want to cover. Each is a circular trail, not the distance from every accommodation to the water.
The seventh stage of the Gotaleden, from Tollered to Norsesund, offers a different destination. It passes through forests and pastureland, by old farmsteads and swimming lakes. If you plan this route, distinguish it from the three local circular trails and arrange your onward or return journey to suit the route you choose.
Swim at Torskabotten, book boat activities on Sävelången
The swimming area at Torskabotten is in southern Tollered. Its listed facilities include swimming jetties, a raft, ladders, a barbecue area, a dry toilet and a sandy and grassy shore. Benches with tables and parking right next to the area help with day-to-day planning. These facilities belong to the swimming area and are not automatically included with a booked holiday home.
On Sävelången, Sjölyckan instead offers raft trips and a motorboat with an electric motor for hire. Kayaks are also available to rent at Nääs Fabriker. Availability and conditions depend on the provider; an overnight stay alone does not include a boat.
Plan your journey and accommodation together
Nääs Fabriker is accessible via the E20 and exit 90, Tollered. The official travel information also lists the Lerum-snabben bus from Gothenburg, as well as a connection by commuter train to Alingsås and onward by buses 561 or 533. Check current timetables.
Compare the exact address of your accommodation with your main starting point: the factory grounds, swimming area or chosen hiking trail. This lets you plan your booking around a specific day’s itinerary without assuming that every activity in the village is included as an accommodation service.
