Tibro has a long tradition of woodworking and furniture making. The area also offers natural spaces, walking opportunities and a range of leisure activities. Whether you are deciding between culture, scenery and activity, the town offers different ways to explore: from a glimpse of historic workshop practices to walks in green surroundings and sporting activities.

Furniture Traditions and Craftsmanship

The Tibro Museum traces the town’s development from small workshops to large-scale industrial furniture production. The museum also houses an authentic workshop from the 1920s. The history of the industry and the workshop offer two concrete perspectives on Tibro’s furniture craft: the evolution of production and a glimpse into an earlier working environment.

The Tibro Glass Workshop offers a hands-on introduction to the craft. Visitors can try glassblowing themselves, with guidance from glassblowers, and take their creation home. The cultural program therefore features both the history of furniture making and an activity in which you create your own piece.

Nature and Walks

The Tibro Gammelprästskog nature reserve features a deep ravine, wetlands and old, tall coniferous forest with thick trunks. The ravine, wetland areas and robust conifer stands show different landscape features in one place. Rankås has geological traces from the Ice Age; at Prästberget, you can walk through beautiful deciduous woodland.

The Prästberget hiking trail has a clearly specified start and end point: it begins and ends at the Örlenbadet campsite car park. Hälsans stig offers another route. This 2.1-kilometre circular trail starts at the stage in Stadsparken. These details make it easier to include different walks in your day’s plans, without assuming a walking time for either route.

Green Spaces and Activities around Ă…naplan

Ă…naplan is a large, centrally located green area in Tibro, by National Road 49. It lies beside the River Tidan, immediately west of Inredia, and parking is available there. The area includes a playground and picnic spots. Ă…naplan therefore offers a place to spend time outdoors as well as somewhere to take a break, without any particular activity needing to be the main focus.

Active Leisure and a Change of Pace

Tibro Action Park is open 24 hours a day, all year round, and can be used with skateboards or bicycles. During the darker months, the lighting is on until 11 p.m. The 24-hour opening and the limited hours of lighting are separate details to consider when planning your visit.

Ă…naplan has a free disc golf course with 18 holes along the River Tidan. FĂĄgelviksbanan is a shorter disc golf round with nine baskets and is mostly designed to be accessible to people with disabilities. The information about the holes or baskets and the course design allows for a concrete comparison between the two rounds, without assuming how long a game will take.

At Tibro Mini Zoo, visitors can get close to the animals and enjoy a rural atmosphere. There is also a barbecue area where you can grill food you have brought with you. If you would rather include an outdoor meal break in your day’s plans, this barbecue area offers something different from walks or sporting activities.
