Rådasjön, Råda Säteri and garden culture
Near Mölnlycke, the Rådasjön Nature Reserve encompasses Lake Rådasjön, woodland along the shore, open pastures and deciduous forests dominated by oak. Råda Säteri is located within the nature reserve. The well-preserved historic estate dates back to the 14th century; its manor buildings date from the 18th century.
The formal garden at the estate includes terraces, apple orchards, seasonal and perennial plantings, flower cultivation and a kitchen garden. Perennial medicinal plants also grow there; historically, they were used, among other things, for sleep problems, stomach aches and fever. This history can be considered as part of the garden culture, without equating past uses with modern medical use.
At Råda Säteri, Tesällskapet offers bookable afternoon tea and tea tastings; check availability before your visit. During the summer half of the year, Trädgårdscaféet uses fresh ingredients from the kitchen garden. If you are planning a visit, enquire about current options. This helps you take both the bookable offering and the seasonal feature into account when planning.
Trails and routes around the lakes
A lit walking and cycling path runs all the way from Mölnlycke centre to Råda Säteri. Options for accessing Rådasjön Nature Reserve include the Mölnlycketerminalen and Råda Säteri bus stops, as well as parking at Råda Säteri and in the car park in central Mölnlycke. This gives you different starting points for planning without assuming a particular way of getting there.
A marked 12-kilometre loop runs around Rådasjön near Mölnlycke. It follows mostly gravelled nature trails through deciduous woodland close to the lake. Finnsjön also has lit running tracks of 1 kilometre and 2.5 kilometres; both are adapted for people with disabilities. Another route around Finnsjön is 6 kilometres long and has varied terrain. The distances help you compare the planned route length; information about the shorter running tracks should not be applied to the separate 6-kilometre route.
Parks and culture in the centre
Massetjärnsparken is a recreational area around Massetjärn in central Mölnlycke. Walking and cycling paths cross the park between the centre and Mölnlycke Fabriker. Leisure facilities include a beach volleyball court and open lawns for ball games and informal activities. As the condition of individual facilities may change, it is worth checking before your visit if you are planning to use these particular amenities.
Mölnlycke Fabriker was founded in 1849 by the Hennig-Wendel family. Another cultural venue is Mölnlycke kulturhus, whose programme includes concerts, family performances, author events, lectures, book groups and storytelling sessions. Artistic works in stone mosaic and ceramic symbols, as well as art exhibitions on several floors, also define the building.
Råda kyrka is a small red wooden church in Mölnlycke. Built in 1712, it has largely retained its character as an 18th-century wooden church. If you are planning a visit, note the opening hours: on weekdays, the church is open from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm; at weekends, it is open in connection with services. Wendelsberg, a nature, culture and recreation area, is also located in the centre.
