Lundsbrunn lies in gently rolling terrain. Agricultural land lies to the west, north and east of the town, while a forest borders Lundsbrunn to the south. In the Mariedalsån Nature Reserve, the Mariedalsån winds through a beautiful stream ravine. Open farmland, forest and the stream ravine give the townscape its distinct character. Visitors who want to plan a trip around the landscape, outdoor activities or local history will find different points of interest here. If you would like to experience the scenic Skara–Lundsbrunn route by train, check the current timetable in advance.

Spa History and Hotel Tradition

Lundsbrunn’s history is closely linked to its healing spring and the spa town that grew up around it. As early as 1724, the spring was known as the best healing spring in Västergötland. Sörbodal, formerly called Stora byggningen, is one of Sweden’s oldest hotel buildings to have been continuously used as a hotel. The historic connection with the spring thus stands alongside the continued hotel use of a specific building. Nova Spa also offers day-spa admission. The healing spring is a historic point of reference, while the day spa is a current offering; check opening details before your visit.

Hiking Trails and Nature

The Sörboleden trail runs through the Mariedals Nature Reserve. The route crosses the meandering Mariedalsån on boardwalks and bridges; the walking loop through the reserve is about 3 kilometres long. The Lundsbrunn–Husaby Pilgrim Trail starts at Dala-Kvarn. These offer different points of reference: an approximate loop length for the Sörboleden and a starting point for the Pilgrim Trail. Before setting out on the Sörboleden, check current trail conditions and facilities, as both can change.

Cycle Path, Golf Course and Playground

The cycle path between Götene and Lundsbrunn follows the former railway line and is about 6 kilometres long. Unlike the walking loop, this route connects two towns. Lundsbrunn Golf Club has an 18-hole course and a 9-hole short course. The golf course landscape includes open countryside, groups of trees, forest, ravines, ponds and small lakes. The golf options can therefore be compared both by course format and by the landscape described.

Lekstationer is a large playground in a green setting next to Lundsbrunn’s station area. The surface throughout the playground is designed to be accessible, except for the “Don’t Touch the Ground” course. If the surface is important for your plans, take this explicitly stated exception into account.

The different outdoor activity options answer different planning questions: for the Sörboleden, the focus is on the approximate length of a walking loop; for the cycle path, it is the length of a route between two towns. The two golf formats differ in the number of holes. This makes it possible to compare routes by distance and layout, while the course format is the key point of comparison for golf.
