Hjuvik: Seaside resort with harbor views and sailing
Accommodation in Hjuvik
As a seaside resort, Hjuvik combines a maritime character with a strong focus on sailing. When looking for accommodation, you can consider whether harbor views, scenic outlooks, or seasonal sailing activities should shape your stay most. These features offer different reasons to choose the area.
Harbor and views
At Hjuviks brygga, there are boathouses and a small boat harbor. The harbor facilities in Hjuvik comprise around 100 moorings, quays, and a service building. The number indicates an approximate scale; the quays and building refer to specific parts of the facilities. From Hjuviks brygga, you can look across to Lilla Varholmen and the lighthouses. The harbor facilities and the views are therefore distinct, tangible aspects of the area’s maritime character.
Sailing in summer
In summer, Hjuviks Båtklubb runs a sailing school in cooperation with Göteborgs Stad. For 2026, the club announced a summer sailing school in Hjuvik, with registration available. During the seasonal beginner training in 2026, participants could borrow a boat and try sailing an Optimist for free. A taster day was also announced for Sunday, May 24, 2026, from 10:00 to 13:00. It was intended for children, young people, and their families; no previous experience was required.
When planning your schedule, it is helpful to distinguish between seasonal training and a single event day. The announced taster day lasted three hours. The beginner training offered an introduction through boat rental and sailing an Optimist, while the taster day was a time-limited format for children, young people, and families. If you are planning to sail on a future trip, check the current dates.
Getting around and ferry connections
Hjuviksvägen leads to the Hjuvik ferry terminal. Flexlinjen Torslanda serves Hjuvik, among other places, on all weekdays except public holidays, from 08:30 to 16:30, with a break from 11:30 to 12:30. The road reference and the timetable offer different ways to navigate: when using Flexlinjen, both the day of the week and the midday break are important for planning. Check the timetable before you travel.
The Björköleden runs between Lilla Varholmen and Björkö in the outer Bohuslän archipelago. The route is 900 meters long, the crossing takes about six minutes, and travel on the car ferry is free. Lilla Varholmen appears here in a different context from the view from Hjuviks brygga: it is also one endpoint of the Björköleden. This makes it possible to distinguish the view and the ferry route as separate points of reference. Flexlinjen’s times describe its daily operating window, while the approximately six minutes refer to the Björköleden crossing. Timetables and service information may change; check them before you travel.
