Dalum is part of Ulricehamn Municipality in Västra Götaland. If you are looking for a hotel, holiday apartment, or holiday home for your stay, you will find a specifically named nature and cultural trail here, along with medieval architectural features and stone monuments. The landscape along the Ätran and a protected slope add to this focus, but not every place mentioned should be understood as a freely accessible recreational area.

Dalumsleden: a longer nature and cultural trail

The Dalumsleden is 34 kilometres long and runs around Dalum. Along the way are places where old croft sites and backstugor (small cottages) still stand or once stood. These are traces of older rural ways of living and working; the trail description does not promise that a fully preserved, open house can be visited at every location.

There are two wind shelters and several rest areas along the trail. When choosing accommodation, it is worth deciding which section you want to visit and where you can actually join the trail. The total length does not describe the distance from any given holiday home to the church. Likewise, a shelter along the trail does not guarantee a reserved place in it.

Dalum Church and the stones in the churchyard

Dalum Church is a Romanesque church dating from the 12th century. Its decorated chancel apse with a round-arched frieze is a distinctive feature. The building has retained much of its medieval character, including the original walls, nave, and narrower chancel. These specific architectural features provide more substance for exploring the building than a general description as an old village church.

There are also two runestones and a lily stone in the churchyard. The incomplete stone circle at Dalum (Domarring) is a separate feature: four of its stones are interpreted as part of a now-destroyed stone circle. Both the interpretation and its incomplete state are part of the description; it should not be presented as an intact stone circle.

Dalums brinkar and nearby Kycklingkullen

Dalums brinkar is a grazed slope between the settlement and the Ätran. The Natura 2000 site protects species-rich dry grassland flora in pasture classified as calcareous grassland. This protected status explains the landscape’s value, but does not establish that it is an unrestricted picnic or play area throughout.

The Kycklingkullen nature reserve, by contrast, lies nearby to the southwest of Dalum, along the road to Ulricehamn. Visitors are welcome there, but plants must not be removed or damaged in any other way. Dalums brinkar and Kycklingkullen are distinct named places, and their conditions of use should not be treated as interchangeable.

A swimming visit is a separate part of your planning

Flatasjön Dalum is listed as a bathing site in Ulricehamn Municipality. If you would like to combine a visit to the water with a hike or a visit to the church, check the exact location and the conditions for your chosen date. Listing a bathing site does not confirm that every accommodation has a private swimming cove.

Choose your stay based on whether a longer trail section, the medieval monuments, or a particular nature area is your main priority. The specific property address and the services promised in your offer are binding; guided tours, nature visits, and use of rest areas are not automatically included in the booking.
