Explore Fredrika through outdoor activities and cultural sites, each with its own story. In the centre, illuminated running and exercise trails cover 2.5 and 5 kilometres. The surrounding area also has hiking trails, eco-parks and nature reserves, while churches, a temple complex and historic buildings are among the town’s cultural landmarks. This makes it easy to combine active days with visits to individual sites.

Exercise in town and on the trails

The illuminated Elljusspåret running trail has four set distances. In winter, a cross-country ski trail is prepared along its 5-kilometre route; local maintenance may vary by season. The route lengths give you a concrete point of comparison when planning a shorter or longer run or exercise session. For a different perspective, the also illuminated Strandleden leads to the campsite and offers views of the lake and the sunset.

Viskaterrängen is both a cross-country running trail and an annual running competition. Shorter routes of 1 to 2.5 kilometres are available in town and in the nearby forest. If you want to include the competition in your travel plans, check the event dates locally; details may vary.

Hiking trails and nature in the surrounding area

Fredrika has hiking trails, eco-parks and nature reserves, and outdoor activities are possible here year-round. Ekopark Käringberget is in the surrounding area, a 16-minute drive away. The park has at least three hiking trails. At Majtjärn, a short, two-kilometre hiking trail leads from the access point on the forest road to the lake. The route lengths offer different points of reference when choosing walks and hikes for your stay.

Church, temple and historic sites

Fredrika kyrka was completed in 1797 and inaugurated in 1810. It is a well-preserved example of neoclassical ecclesiastical wooden architecture. The two dates mark different milestones in its history: completion and inauguration.

The grounds of the Buddharama Temple in Fredrika feature a 4.5-metre-high statue of the monk Luang poo Thuad and a Buddha statue more than eight metres tall. There is also a stage, two smaller houses and two elephant statues. The Sámi presence in the area around Fredrika dates back about 2,000 years.

Lögdastugan regularly hosts a summer café and an Advent market. Check the dates locally before your visit. Långbäckenstugan, built in the 1850s, is a museum with an old classroom upstairs.

There are special destinations outside town, too: in Lake Skinnmuddselet, six kilometres west of Fredrika, a slightly more than three-metre-high cast bronze figure stands on a rock. Its branching shape resembles reindeer antlers. A little more than ten kilometres outside Fredrika are Baksjölidens skvaltkvarn and a shaving mill installation. The mill complex dates back to the 1860s and is located by a nature reserve and an area with pitfall traps.
