The tall tower of Alunda Church is visible from far away as you approach Alunda on the country road from Uppsala. The church stands on the western edge of town. Its oldest parts date from the 13th century; in the 15th century it was extended eastward to its present size. Inside is an original 19th-century organ made by Åkerman o Lund. The building’s history and the organ offer different historical points of reference: from its medieval origins through its later expansion to a furnishing from the 19th century.

Church history and local development

KlockargĂĄrden also tells of church and community life. The building was constructed in the 1790s as a meeting place for church parish and municipal affairs. Since 1944, the church parish has made its rooms available to the local heritage association. KlockargĂĄrden houses a museum about local development as well as furnished rooms in the building. Alongside the church, it offers further points of interest for travellers interested in the history of the town and its community.

The archaeological history around Alunda reaches back to the Stone Age. Near the town, the Alunda 157:1 burial ground extends 150 Ă— 130 metres from north to south and includes about 82 archaeological remains. The figures for its extent and number of remains may be outdated.

Cycling, swimming and outdoor activities

For mountain bikers, Upplands-Ekeby IF (UEIF) maintains trails in Alunda that are suitable for both beginners and experienced cyclists. Trail conditions and activities may vary seasonally. The Alunda MTB area also includes technical sections and a downhill section at Pulkabacken, with challenging terrain and natural obstacles. Check the trail layout and helmet requirements before riding.

Alundabadet is an outdoor swimming facility with three pools and large lawn areas. Changing rooms with showers and toilets are also available. The stated season runs from June to August; check current access information before making plans. This helps you place a day of swimming within the season without assuming the facility will be open for a particular visit.

There are different options for getting active on land too: the lit running trail in Alunda is about 2.5 kilometres long. A municipal report from 2019 also describes it as a walking path used year-round; local conditions may affect its use. At Alunda fotbollsgolf, a round has 18 holes and takes about 1.5 hours for a group of three or four people. The course runs through hilly countryside; course details may change with the operator. You can therefore gauge the running trail by its approximate length and the football golf round by its stated duration.
