From May to October, Botkyrka Municipality organises walks and bus tours to areas of cultural and historical interest.

The municipality includes the localities of Tumba, Grödinge and Botkyrka. There are bathing opportunities in inland waters, lakes and the sea.

Culture and History

Kulturspår Botkyrka consists of three short, signposted walking trails that provide information about the history of the respective localities. The stations are supplemented by audio tracks featuring personal stories about the places. The three walking trails can be reached from the respective metro stations Fittja, Hallunda and Norsborg.

At Hågelby-Skrävsta, there are two signposted walking trails, Skrävstastigen and Saltbergstigen. They explain how people have lived here over the millennia. The landscape has largely been preserved; archaeological sites and the agricultural landscape remain.

HÃ¥gelbyparken is a manor estate used as a public park. Visitors can stroll through the large park and visit the 4H farm. HÃ¥gelby Hus offers afternoon tea with scones and accompaniments, fine pastries and carefully selected teas.

The Tumba Bruk Museum presents the history of Swedish banknotes and the lives of the people who lived and worked at the Tumba paper mill through its exhibitions and historic setting. The offerings include general guided tours of the mill and guided tours of the paper workshop, where visitors can make paper themselves.

Mångkulturellt centrum welcomes visitors to exhibitions, a specialist library, an art education workshop, programme events, the MKC shop and the Tavernan restaurant. It conveys knowledge, understanding and forms of expression concerning the effects and significance of migration on people’s lives in Sweden.

Botkyrka Church is the oldest church in the parish, whose origins date back to the 12th century. It was built in honour of Saint Botvid and has an accessibility-adapted ramp at the entrance.

Art and the Present Day

The Subtopia site features murals, stencil art and graffiti by artists from the surrounding area and beyond. A digital guide enables visitors to explore the site independently. Lilla Väggen at Subtopia is an approximately 20-metre-long urban art wall that is open to everyone around the clock.

Botkyrka Konsthall in Fittja is dedicated to contemporary art and offers exhibitions, guided tours, artist talks, workshops and performances. Admission is free.

Nature and Trails

The approximately eight-kilometre-long Sankt Botvids Pilgrimsled runs between Salem Church and Botkyrka Church. Along the trail, there are six meditation sites and signposts, as well as a brochure with a map and texts.

Sjöslingan in the Vinterskogen Nature Reserve is 3.2 kilometres long and leads through old forest along the lakes Brosjön, Mellansjön and Övrasjön.

Grödingeleden is a 32-kilometre-long section of the Sörmlandsleden. It runs from Lida via Grödinge and Näslandet to Skanssundet, passing archaeological remains, the ruins of former farms, hillforts and viewpoints. It also runs along Stora Träsket and through old coniferous forest.

Aspens naturstig is just over seven kilometres long and runs around the southern part of Lake Aspen. Along the way, it passes cultural heritage sites, several archaeological sites and wetlands with boardwalks and floating bridges.

From the observation platform in the eastern part of the Snäckstavik wetland, visitors can watch birds, including garganeys, whooper swans, common greenshanks and wood sandpipers.

Active Experiences

At Lida, there are three prepared mountain biking trails: a green one measuring 2.8 kilometres, a blue one measuring 7.1 kilometres and a red one measuring 4.7 kilometres. The Accropark at Lida offers climbing, balancing and ziplining high up in the treetops.
