Malmö Between Gardens, Beaches and Urban History

Malmö combines a long beach, open gardens, contemporary art and historic buildings. This gives the city different focal points when choosing the right place to stay: a coastal atmosphere along the waterfront promenade and at Ribersborgs kallbadhus, culture around Malmöhus and Malmö Konsthall, or green destinations such as Slottsträdgården and Bokskogen in Torup.

Gardens, Beaches and Views of the Öresund

Slottsträdgården is an open ecological garden in central Malmö. Audio guides enable self-guided tours of the gardens and provide information about their history, the garden areas and the plant life. The site therefore combines an independent visit with practical insights into the garden's design and maintenance. The Malmö Garden Show takes place every two years and complements this focus on gardens with a recurring event.

At Ribersborg Beach, the coastline stretches for more than 1.5 kilometres. A prominent building in this area is Ribersborgs kallbadhus, one of the landmarks of the city and the beach. From the waterfront promenade in Västra Hamnen, there are views of the Öresund Bridge. Different cityscapes therefore come together by the water: the long beach, the historic cold bathhouse and the modern promenade overlooking the bridge.

Culture Between Folk Park, Art Gallery and Castle

Folkets Park is Sweden's oldest public park. Its facilities include stages, playgrounds, a terrarium and adventure golf, among other things. Concerts and other events are also held there. The park thus brings together a range of offerings in one place, from stage performances and events to play and activity areas.

Malmö Konsthall is one of the largest spaces for contemporary art in Sweden. Malmöhus provides a historical counterpoint: the complex is the oldest surviving castle in the Nordic region and was built in 1434. Katrinetorp landeri, in turn, is considered one of Sweden's best-preserved Empire estates. The grounds include historic gardens and an English landscape park. Green Destinations and Getting Around by Bike

Malmö's official cycling map shows cycle paths, service stations, bicycle pumps, bike rental stations and designated commuter routes. It therefore makes various elements of the cycling infrastructure visible without prescribing a specific route. A walking route follows Utflyktstigen, the cycle path to Torup, which begins at Videdalsvägen in Malmö.

Bokskogen in Torup is a recreational area with several hundred hectares of beech forest, cultivated land and pasture. It has paths and circular routes for activities, running, horse riding and walks, as well as an outdoor fitness area. The Nord-Südleden section of Skåneleden connects to Torup's recreation centre. This means that, in addition to the gardens and parks within the city, forest, trail and landscape areas around Malmö are also available to explore.

Markets and Water as Further Urban Experiences

Möllevångstorget is known for its daily market. Rundan offers guided boat tours, adding a perspective from the water to the exploration of the city. These two offerings have different focal points: the market represents a fixed place in city life, while the boat tours provide a guided view of Malmö from the water.
