Geltorf: Hotels and Accommodation

Geltorf is situated in the Hüttener and Duvenstedt Hills natural area on the edge of the Schleswiger Vorgeest: between the southern terminal moraines of the Schlei basin and the western terminal moraines of the Hüttener Hills. A watershed runs through the municipality, shaping the courses of its waterways as well.

Nature and Water

The Geltorfer Au flows into the Selker Mühlenau and then through Selker Noor and Haddebyer Noor to the Schlei and the Baltic Sea. The waterways south of the watershed, by contrast, run through the Boklunder Au, the Mühlenbach, the Neue Sorge and the Eider to the North Sea. A stream flowing through the western part of Geltorf is a habitat of the rare kingfisher.

History and Village Character

Two gold bracteates found in Geltorf were among the grave goods from urn burial sites dating to the first centuries of the Common Era. The gold ornaments discovered in 1876 indicate that the Geltorf landscape was settled at an early date.

The listed residential and farm building at Dorfstraße 19 dates from around 1860.

Routes and Connections

The road route to Geltorf leads from the Schleswig/Jagel exit of the A7 via the B77 towards Schleswig and then via Selk towards Fleckeby/Eckernförde. County Road 1 connects Geltorf with Selk.

The E1 route leads from Selk via Altmühl and continues past the outskirts of Geltorf. Between Haddebyer Noor and Selker Noor, it crosses the narrow connection on a wooden bridge.
