Tackesdorf: Hotels and Accommodations
The Kiel Canal has a direct influence on Tackesdorf: it passes through the village, and cyclists and walkers watch ocean-going ships from its banks. Here, the landscape is combined with a distinctive maritime perspective.
Nature
Parts of the Haaler Au FFH area and a European bird sanctuary are located on Tackesdorf’s northeastern edge along a natural watercourse that flows into the Kiel Canal beside three large ponds. The natural area also includes a dry biotope covering around 70 hectares, which was created when the canal was widened. It provides a habitat for rare animals and plants, including Red List breeding birds such as whinchats, black-tailed godwits, and reed warblers.
Landscape
Tackesdorf’s distinctive settlement landscape reflects the cultivation and drainage of the former Reitmoor. Scattered farmsteads stand on raised mounds, while straight drainage channels still run through the municipality today.
Langer Berg and Büttelberg are located in the surrounding area. Jarschenberg and Reselithberg are also situated in the wider regional area.
Culture
The Schalenstein cultural heritage monument is located in the vicinity of Tackesdorf. The Schanze and Hügelgrab cultural heritage monuments, as well as the Süderholm Schanze, are located in the wider regional area.
