Löptin: Hotels and accommodations

Löptin’s village center around Lake Löptin is considered peaceful despite the nearby B 404 and A 21. The lake has a bathing area with a small meadow and a wooden jetty.

Nature

Löptin is located in the Bornhöved Lakes and Alte Schwentine (Kührener Au) Landscape Protection Area, extending to Kührener Bridge and the surrounding area. The village is also included in the Postsee-Neuwührener Au-Klosterforst Preetz and Surrounding Area Landscape Protection Area. This area is considered important for the protection of species and biotopes as well as for landscape-based recreation. The protected landscape also encompasses the Alte Schwentine, also called Kührener Au, up to Kührener Bridge.

Cycling

The approximately 100-kilometer-long Vicelin Cycle Route passes through Löptin on its way to Wankendorf, Ruhwinkel, and Bornhöved. It can be divided into four stages or two day tours and connects the Ochsenweg, the Holstein Switzerland Cycle Tour, and the Mönchsweg.

History and culture

The place name Löptin is first documented in 1224 and is of Slavic origin. The municipality’s emblem is based on the seal of Junker Johannes Lubbetin from 1346. Löptin is considered the only municipality in Schleswig-Holstein with a heraldic coat of arms.

Greek folk dancing is part of Löptin’s local tradition. Sirtaki is regularly performed at Maypole and village festivals.
