Lehmkuhlen: Hotels and Accommodation

Since 2004, Bredeneek Castle has been restored as faithfully to the original as possible. The foundation stone for the castle was laid in 1830 by Hamburg merchant Conrad Donner.

Culture

Visits and guided tours of Bredeneek Castle are offered by arrangement with the owner. The castle can be booked for family celebrations, company events and other business functions.

The historic cultural landscape includes the chestnut avenue at Lehmkuhlen Estate, which is protected as a historic landscape monument, as well as the landscape park at Am Schloß Bredeneek 3. It is classified as a garden monument and is of historic and cultural-landscape significance. The Lehmkuhlen Arboretum at Lehmkuhlen Estate is also classified as a garden monument, with historic, scientific, artistic and cultural-landscape significance.

The municipality describes Lehmkuhlen as being shaped by nature and agriculture.

Cycling

The Schusteracht route is approximately 64 kilometres long, well signposted and has only a few more substantial climbs. It passes through forests and nature reserves, by lakes and along the Schwentine River. Along the route are estates, manor houses and cultural monuments that invite visitors to stop and explore.

The Schusteracht includes an approximately 30-kilometre northwestern loop and an approximately 33-kilometre southeastern loop. One route sequence runs from Preetz via Bredeneek Castle/Lehmkuhlen to Rastorf Estate and back to Preetz.

Another listed route sequence runs from Preetz via Rethwisch Estate and Lehmkuhlen towards Trenthorst, Sophienhof, Wahlstorf Estate and other listed stops before returning to Preetz.
