Bothkamp: Hotels and Accommodations

Lake Bothkamp is located in Bothkamp and covers 1.376 square kilometers. In the wider Eider Moraine region, gently rolling terrain, lakes, streams, wetlands, small deciduous forests, and agricultural land shape the landscape. The Dröge Eider flows through Lake Bothkamp.

Trails

The regional hiking route In the Realm of the White-tailed Eagle offers views of Lake Bothkamp and Bothkamp Manor House. A section of a regional route follows a former railway line for approximately 1.5 kilometers as a footpath.

The Bothkamp nature trail is an approximately three-kilometer circular route through fields, woodland, and open landscapes; more than 50 information panels are located along the route. The trail provides information about nature, agriculture, forestry, fishing, hunting, beekeeping, and food production. At Siek Farm, it presents cultivated plants and their importance for modern agriculture. The nature trail is located in the Gut Bothkamp estate district.

Access is via the L49, taking the turnoff near Leckerhölken Hus and following a one-kilometer access road to Siek Farm 7, where parking is available.

Experiences

The Bothkamp Soil Discovery Trail is located in a gravel pit that has been redesigned for this purpose and features seven learning stations. These include a barefoot trail, a soil window for observing soil-dwelling animals, and a finger-testing station for examining different soil grain sizes. Parking is available at the Bothkamp Soil Discovery Trail.

Culture

The foundations of the Bothkamp Observatory, built by Friedrich Gustav von Bülow in 1869, have been preserved. Bothkamp is documented as an estate as early as 1243.
