Bönebüttel: Hotels and Accommodations

A new climate forest is located in Bönebüttel at the confluence of the Brammerau and Schwale rivers. The area covers around 1.8 hectares; 7,500 seedlings were planted as part of the climate forest project.

Nature

The climate forest is freely accessible to residents and is open for exploring, quiet relaxation, or a small picnic. The planned climate forest is designed as a mixed deciduous forest with pedunculate oaks, hornbeams, small-leaved limes, wych elms, alders, and ash trees.

Bönebüttel is located immediately west of the Bönebütteler Gehege FFH area. Bönebütteler Gehege is a historic woodland in the natural region of the Schleswig-Holstein Uplands. In the Schwale lowlands near Bönebüttel lies Fledermauswald, a one-hectare old beech stand; it is part of the Bönebütteler Gehege Natura 2000 site.

Nature conservation measures in the Schwale lowlands near Bönebüttel focus on improving the habitats and spawning waters of the crested newt. Two additional spawning waters were created for this purpose at the southern edge of Bönebütteler Gehege next to Fledermauswald.

Culture and History

Associated with Bönebüttel is a farm complex dating from the late 19th century at Bönebütteler Damm 158. There is also a traditional hall house and a windmill at Dorfstraße 18; these properties are documented as listed monuments.

Bönebüttel and Husberg are first mentioned in a document dated July 11, 1141.

Transport Connections

Wankendorf offers regular bus connections onward to Kiel, Neumünster, Bad Segeberg, and Plön. ALFA services improve connections to Wankendorf and Neumünster in the evenings and on weekends.
