Culture and History

In the area surrounding Małe Gronowo lies Gniew – Teutonic Castle, 13th century, a castle from the 13th century. The castle tours are guided and include a permanent exhibition about the town, the castle chapel, defensive-wall cloisters, the armoury, and an exhibition about the Second World War.

Małe Gronowo is one of three separately named settlements that emerged from the expansion of Gronowo following the dyke construction works of 1855. In Polskie Gronowo, traces of older buildings, a Mennonite cemetery, and remnants of former dykes can be seen.

Nature

In the immediate vicinity, the northern section of the Lower Vistula Trail runs near Gniew through Wielkie Walichnowy, Kuchnia, Polskie Gronowo, Ciepłe, and Gniew. The entire route is 75 km long, of which 36 km runs within the municipality of Gniew. It follows the Vistula and offers views across its valley.
