Borowy Młyn: Hotels and accommodations

Borowy Młyn first appears in historical records in 1419: documents mention the place as a mill with an independent settlement established under Magdeburg Law. The mill building still preserved today was constructed at the end of the 19th century.

Historical traces

In the 19th century, a lock and a pond were constructed in Borowy Młyn. The former mill complex includes the owner’s house at Borowy Młyn No. 3, which was also built at the end of the 19th century. The former Jesuiterhof estate in Borowy Młyn was granted to the Jesuits in the 17th century by Jan Krasiński, the starost of Sztum.

An obelisk commemorates a former smithy and inn that formed the starting point of the settlement, which no longer exists today, in the 17th or 18th century. During Stefan Batory’s wars with Moscow from 1579 to 1581, Borowy Młyn is said to have been home to a foundry producing cannonballs.

The 44-kilometre Green Cycle Route of the Ryjewo municipality passes through Borowy Młyn. The Green Cycle Route runs along paved roads as well as forest and field paths. Borowy Młyn is located at kilometre 308.5 of the 390-kilometre red hiking trail “Ku Gwiazdom – Śladami Mikołaja Kopernika”. A tour described in Kwidzyn County reaches Borowy Młyn at kilometre 19.50 and then continues along a forest road.
