Nature and Surroundings

A prominent landscape feature of Polnica is Lake Gostudno. On its eastern shore, there is a car park, a beach, a bathing jetty, and an area for recreation. The lake covers 46.38 hectares and is fed by the Czerwonka River.

Lake Gostudno is located about 1 km from Polnica and is best reached via unpaved roads from Polnica or Polniczka. Polnica lies in an area characterized by forests and lakes, on the edge of the Bory Tucholskie and the Zaborski Landscape Park.

At U Garncarza in Polnica, guests can enjoy recreational horseback riding, sleigh rides in winter, and making a traditional clay vessel on a potter’s wheel.

Cycling Routes

Several routes in Człuchów County pass through Polnica. Cycling Route No. 5, “Chrobotkowa,” runs through Przechlewo, Imielno, Płaszczyca, Polnica, and Człuchów and is 20.3 km long.

Cycling Route No. 9, “Niedzielna,” which is 36.8 km long, runs from Człuchów via Polnica, Czarnoszyce, Charzykowy, Nieżywięć, and Krzyżanki back to Człuchów.

Culture and History

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Polnica was built in 1780–1781 and is the oldest surviving church in Człuchów Municipality. It contains an 18th-century altar with sculptures of Saint Joseph and Saint John of Nepomuk.

The Church of the Holy Trinity retains murals on the vault of the nave depicting King David and Saint Stanislaus, the bishop. It also has 18th-century Rococo furnishings and a pulpit supported by an angel figure. Its history goes back to a church built in the 16th century: it was initially Protestant, became Catholic in 1617, and in 1789 received a new nave and a new chancel attached to the surviving wooden tower.

The former Protestant Church of Saint Joseph in Polnica was built in 1912. The single-nave interior is richly decorated with paintings and has two galleries.
