Lakes and protected landscapes

Jezioro Gostudno in the Człuchów municipality covers an area of 46.38 hectares and is fed by the Czerwonka. On its eastern shore, there is a car park, a beach, a pier and a recreational area. This combination is a useful point of reference for anyone planning to spend time by the lake during an outing. The Polnica forest district is also located on Jezioro Gostudno. Those more interested in protected areas can visit Jezioro Bardze, which lies within the “Czerwona Woda nad Babilonem” special protection area.

A different landscape defines Jezioro Sporacz, which, together with the surrounding peat bog and forest, forms a nature reserve distinguished by its water and flora. At the “Sosny” forest nature reserve in Sieroczyn, the focus is on plants, fungi and animals; the area covers 1.55 hectares. These two natural areas have different features: at Sporacz, the lake, peat bog and forest form a whole, while “Sosny” is designated as a small forest nature reserve. Those wishing to include nature in their trip can consider these areas as destinations in their own right, alongside the larger lakes.

Water activities and routes through the landscape

Jezioro Krępsko has many spots suitable for recreation and is also good for fishing. The lake has three islands, the largest of which covers 4.13 hectares. This gives visitors several ways to enjoy an outing: relaxing by the water, fishing and taking an interest in the islands are all options. Sailing takes place on Jezioro Rychnowskie, and the VI KING sports club’s marina is nearby. The “Rychnowy” recreation area on this lake covers just under 2 hectares. Those focused on sailing can head to Rychnowskie, while Krępsko is explicitly suitable for fishing as well.

For a trip along a flowing waterway, consider the Kamionka. It begins at the border of the Człuchów municipality near Wierzchowo and meanders through fields, meadows, ravines and forests. The river is suitable for canoe trips. The Człuchów municipality also offers opportunities for cycling and trekking. So, alongside the lakes, there are activities on land to choose from, while the Kamionka adds another type of landscape to the mix. Which of these options shapes your stay depends on whether you prefer to be out on the water or explore the area by bike or on trekking trips.

Churches, a park and other excursion destinations

The history of the buildings can also be seen at specific sites. The Holy Trinity Church in Polnica was built in 1780–1781 and is the oldest surviving church in the Człuchów municipality. The filial Church of St James the Apostle in Krępsk dates from 1737. Its Baroque interior includes a pulpit from the castle chapel in Człuchów. Those interested in churches and their furnishings will find two distinct historical points of interest here.

Next to the palace in Stołczno is a landscape park dating from the mid-19th century, which is listed in the register of monuments maintained by Poland’s National Heritage Board. Another notable feature is the glacial erratic, commonly known as the “Romantic Stone”: it weighs 60 tonnes, has a circumference of 13 metres and is estimated to be more than 600 million years old. The park and the erratic appeal to different interests—historic gardens on the one hand, and natural and geological history on the other.

Groups can also visit Canpol Wonderland, a family amusement park in Człuchów. Children’s birthday parties, team outings and stag parties can be organised there. The address is listed as Sieroczyn 4A, 77-300 Człuchów; the access roads given are national roads E22 and E25. This makes it possible to pair this destination with a specific group occasion when choosing outings.
