Człuchów is considered to be situated on an isthmus between two lakes. Four lakes are named within the city limits: Urzędowe, Miejskie, Miejskie Małe, and Rychnowskie.

History

Człuchów’s naturally defensible location influenced the site of a fortified castle associated with the State of the Teutonic Order. Construction of the Teutonic castle began in 1325 as the seat of a komtur. In the immediate vicinity of Człuchów there is also “Człuchów - Zamek krzyżacki z XIVw.” The restored castle is home to the Regional Museum, which presents archaeology, ethnography, history, and art related to the history and culture of the region.

Nature

Człuchów is considered to be situated in a wooded area in the southwest of the Pomeranian Voivodeship. In the area around Człuchów are Wzgorze nad Charzykowami, Góra Wolność, and Wzgorze nad Niezywieciem. There is also “Człuchów - Mini-Zoo” in the immediate vicinity.

Geographical Location

Człuchów lies at the intersection of Road 25, which runs between Koszalin and Bydgoszcz, and Road 22, which runs between Gorzów Wielkopolski and Elbląg. Chojnice is named as the nearest city; it lies 15 kilometers east of Człuchów.
