Ugoszcz is one of the older settlements in the Bytów area: the place was mentioned in documents in 1350; by the middle of the 15th century, there was already a church, a mill, and an inn here.

Classification

Ugoszcz is a large village in the municipality of Studzienice and is located on the road from Bytów to Studzienice. As a Kashubian village, it is situated in Bytów County in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, belongs to the municipality of Studzienice, and lies in the Bytów Lake District.

History and Architecture

The Church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Ugoszcz was built in 1822 and reflects regional building traditions. In the area surrounding Ugoszcz lies Bytów, with its Gothic Teutonic Order castle from the 14th and 15th centuries.

Landscape

The municipality of Studzienice is characterized by extensive forests and lakes. Forests cover more than 64.5 percent of its area, and lakes 3.4 percent. Siemierzycka Góra is located in the area surrounding Ugoszcz; the wider regional area also includes Nowe Slone (200 m) and Chełmice.
