Culture and History

In the vicinity of the town of Bytów lies the historic Gothic castle of Bütow, a brick structure built by the Teutonic Order in the 14th and 15th centuries. The Teutonic Knights began construction in the early 1390s, and it was completed in 1406. Bytów was granted town rights in 1346.

Bytów is home to the Museum of Agriculture, the Church of the Holy Trinity, and the Museum of Bytów Land.

Nature and Landscape

Bytów is considered a town in the Kashubian Lake District and lies among numerous forests and lakes; the Bytowa and Boruja rivers flow through the town. Siemierzycka Góra is located in the surrounding area. The wider regional surroundings also include Nowe Slone (200 m), Przyjemska Gora, and the hill above Tuchlinek.

Geographical Location

The town is located in the Gdańsk Pomerania region in northern Poland and is the county capital of Bytów County in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Bytów is considered a local road junction; the town is connected via the national road DK20 and the regional roads DW209, DW212, and DW228.
