Jäckvik offers several specific starting points for planning a trip: two hiking trails with different destinations, seasonal winter activities and Pieljekaise National Park. Historic sites and events can also shape a trip. The differences between the trails and dates can help you weigh up activities and when to travel.

Hiking Trails and Destinations

Kungsleden runs between Jäckvik and Adolfström and is about 27 kilometres long. Viejenäsleden runs between Jäckvik and Viejenäs, southeast of Kungsleden, and is about 22 kilometres long. The trails therefore differ by around five kilometres, and they also lead to different destinations. When planning, you can take into account both the approximate length and the direction and destination of each route.

Seasonal Activities

Jäckvik Fjällcenter operates seasonally. Its drag lift runs 1,927 metres up the mountain and has a vertical drop of 355 metres. In winter, the fjällcenter offers guided snowmobile tours in English. Confirm their current availability before travelling. The lift and tours are separate offerings from the centre; the tours combine a guided activity with English-speaking accompaniment.

Pieljekaise: Nature and Rest Hut

Pieljekaise National Park, a roadless mountain area, lies between Jäckvik and Adolfström. There is a rest hut in the national park where overnight stays are possible. Facilities and overnight-stay rules may vary seasonally. The key to the rest hut can be borrowed from the grocery store in Jäkkvik; confirm current key-loan arrangements before travelling.

A snowmobile route leads to the rest hut at the tree line of Pieljekaise. Route conditions and the preparation required vary by season. If you plan to visit the rest hut, you should therefore consider both the hut rules and the route conditions for your travel dates.

History and Dates

“Jäkkviks kapell” was built in Lövmokk in 1777 and moved about eight kilometres to Jäkkvik in 1885. The two place names mark different stages in the building’s history: Lövmokk is where it was built, while Jäkkvik is associated with its later relocation. Another recommended place to visit is the memorial stone to Lars Levi Laestadius in Jäckvik.

Jäckviksnappet takes place every year on Easter Sunday at 12:00 and lasts two hours. If you are planning your trip around the event, check that year’s arrangements. Bok & Vandring in Jäckvik / Jäggeluaktta is scheduled for 15–18 July 2027. Day passes include all walks and seminars in the programme; check the programme and booking details for this edition in advance. These are different kinds of events to consider when choosing your dates: an annual Easter event and an edition scheduled for July 2027.

Kungsleden Across Lake Riebnes

The Piteälven–Jäckvik section of Kungsleden is also part of trip planning: it crosses Lake Riebnes. Check boat arrangements for your travel dates in advance. This ensures that the section is considered as a separate planning point alongside the hiking trails leading to Adolfström and Viejenäs.
