Location
Brünzow lies north of federal highway 109 and west of the Schönwalde–Lubmin railway line. Lubmin, the seat of the Lubmin administrative office, is located approximately 3 kilometers northeast, while Greifswald is approximately 14 kilometers southwest of Brünzow.
History
Brünzow was first mentioned in records in 1248 under the name Brunissogh. The place name has Slavic origins and means “defend” or “protect.”

The Wolgast Zoo and the Peenemünde Oxygen Works are located in the area surrounding Brünzow. The Motor and Leisure Center is also located nearby. In the wider region are Test Stand VII Peenemünde, the Trassenheide Butterfly Farm, Quilow Moated Castle, and the Trabbi Barn.
