Usedom: Hotels and Accommodation

Usedom

Usedom is located in the southern part of Usedom Island and is the only German municipality on the island with historic town rights.

Coast and Historical Development

Usedom’s tourism history is associated with an exceptionally broad, fine-sand beach between Bansin and Swinemünde. Bathing tourism began in Heringsdorf as early as 1823. The Berlin–Swinemünde railway line also played an important role in the development of tourism on Usedom.

Nature and Island Area

The entire island was designated Usedom Island Nature Park in December 1999. This also includes the waters toward the mainland and a small strip of mainland around Lubmin and Lassan. The island of Usedom itself is also located in the surrounding area of Usedom; Werder and Cöthen are likewise in the surrounding area.

Nearby Surroundings

The nearby surroundings of Usedom include St. Mary’s Church and Neidbullen. Both place references complement the geographical classification of the town area with destinations and names from the immediate vicinity.
