Mühl Rosin is also part of a cycling route that crosses municipal boundaries: the completed sections provide a continuous connection between three municipalities, linked to the regional centre of Güstrow.
One section of this route runs between Bölkow and Mühl Rosin. The first construction phase there was completed in 2022. The two details refer to different things: the five-kilometre cycle path runs from Mühl Rosin to Güstrow alongside the lake, while the reference to the section between Bölkow and Mühl Rosin describes part of the route connecting the municipalities. This makes it possible to consider cycling both as a route to Güstrow and as part of the wider regional connection.
The village’s school history
Mühl Rosin’s school history dates back to 1770, when children were taught in the village. The first school building was built in 1859. Classes for the village’s children were held there until 1950. The Historic School in Mühl Rosin commemorates this early history of education and highlights an aspect of the village distinct from the lake and cycling routes.
A new chapter began in 1950 with the opening of the central school, the first new school building in the then-district of Schwerin. On 1 September 1950, classes began there for 159 pupils, initially in three classrooms. Mühl Rosin Central School is now a regional school. Some rooms in its modern extension are used today, among other things, for the municipal library and municipal archive. These dates mark different stages: the start of teaching in the village, the first school building and the later new school.
Traces of the former farmstead
Another historic landmark is hereditary lease farm No. 3, known as “Honigberg”. None of its former residential or farm buildings can be seen today. An information board tells the story of its former residents and their lives. Those interested in the village’s history can learn about a former farmstead as well as the school, even though the buildings themselves are no longer visible.
