Roggentin is located about five kilometres from Rostock’s historic centre. At the same time, the town borders Rostock’s Brinckmansdorf district; the A 19 is the only thing separating the two.

Geographical Location

Roggentin comprises the districts of Fresendorf, Kösterbeck and Roggentin and is situated on a ground moraine. South of the town, the terrain drops by almost 40 metres to the Kösterbeck valley, which is oriented towards the Warnow. Roggentin is also connected to the Kösterbeck nature reserve.

Transport Connections

Roggentin has bus and rail connections to surrounding towns and Rostock city centre. The town developed along the A 19 motorway and the B 110 federal road.

History and Culture

Roggentin was first documented in 1219 under the name Rokentin as property of Sonnenkamp Abbey in Neukloster. The place name has Old Slavic origins.

The village church in Bentwisch and St Mary’s Church in Rostock are located nearby. Doberan Abbey is situated in the wider area around Roggentin.

Surroundings

Kaiser Berg is located nearby. The surrounding area of Roggentin is home to Rostock Zoo, Moennichpark and Wohnen in Rostock Sportpark. The city park is also located nearby.
