Landscape and Surroundings

The area around Tarnow stretches from the Warnow Valley through a wooded ground moraine landscape to the Nebel lowlands. At 67 meters above sea level, Lurrbarg is considered the highest elevation around Tarnow.

In the immediate vicinity are Engelberg, Voßbarg, and Kahler Berg. Dornbusch is located in the wider regional area.

Culture and History

In the center of Tarnow, a medieval brick village church stands on a hill, featuring the rare form of two naves; it is visible from far away. The church is documented as early as 1233, while the surviving structure probably dates from the 14th century.

Tarnow’s cultural heritage list includes an estate complex with a manor house, farm buildings, a granary, stables, and a barn, as well as a mourning hall and a cemetery opposite the church.
