Kröslin borders the Peene River to the east and the Greifswald Lagoon to the north. The municipality includes several islands and protected areas and lies entirely within the Usedom Island Nature Park.

Nature and Coast

Dänholm and Kleiner Wotig, both classified as islands, are located in the immediate vicinity of Kröslin town center. Lubmin Beach, a beach, lies in the area surrounding the town center. The area around Freest is associated with quiet beaches, views toward Rügen, Ruden, and Usedom, as well as picturesque coastal landscapes.

Kröslin has a five-star marina. In Kröslin and Freest, there are opportunities to rent bicycles, rowboats, and motorboats.

Culture and History

In Freest, the local history museum has seven rooms for permanent exhibitions. There are also temporary exhibitions and lectures. The exhibits include regional historical collections on the history of homes and everyday life, as well as Freest fisherman's rugs, which are recognized as intangible UNESCO cultural heritage.

Kröslin has a historic village church dating from 1305 and developed from a traditional village arranged around a village green into a street village arranged around a village green.

The Peenemünde Power Plant, a museum, and the ruins of the Peenemünde oxygen plant are located in the immediate vicinity of the town center.
