Boldekow is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The southern part of the municipality is crossed by the Großer Landgraben, while the northern part lies on a terminal moraine ridge. Kavelberg, Hellberg, and Fuchsberg are located in the immediate vicinity of Boldekow.

History

Boldekow was first documented in 1313 as Wendeschen Boldekow; the name Boldekow was first used in 1779. The village center developed between 1739 and 1752 from an early Slavic settlement and is located on a largely unchanged site.

Culture

The village church in Beseritz and the village church in Dahlen are located in the vicinity of Boldekow. The wider regional area is home to the Trabbi-Scheune and Quilow Water Castle. The Schwichtenberg Erratic Boulder Garden is also located nearby.

Geographical Location

Boldekow is located on federal highway B197. Anklam is approximately 17 kilometers to the north, and Neubrandenburg approximately 31 kilometers to the southwest. The A20 can be reached via the Neubrandenburg-Nord interchange, which is approximately 19 kilometers from Boldekow.
