The 290-metre-long pier was opened in 1992 and is accessible. A walk along it offers views of the white sandy beach, the town and the Baltic Sea.
Along the cliff coast, hikers may be lucky enough to discover fossils at the foot of the cliffs. Finding one is not guaranteed, but it is something that may happen while hiking. For visitors interested in coastal landforms and nature, this adds another dimension to the cliff coast as a glacial debris coast. On the beach, meanwhile, the public beach volleyball nets invite you to get active. Coastal observation, hiking and beach activities therefore offer different ways to enjoy your trip.
Spa Park, Events and Local History
The spa park offers a varied programme of events throughout the year for visitors of all ages. These include children’s programmes, spa concerts, silent discos and party evenings. The park itself features covered walkways, a concert pavilion, white wooden benches, the Trinkkurhalle and a 500-metre-long box hedge. Each of these elements contributes to the park in a different way: the walkways, benches and hedge are part of its landscaping, while the concert pavilion and Trinkkurhalle are other named features of the spa park.
The ground floor of the spa house is home to the tourist information office and the spa library. This means visitors can find both an information service and a place to read in the same building. Boltenhagen’s architecture also includes historic resort architecture. The Protestant Church of Paulshöhe adds another historic note: this rectangular brick building is neo-Gothic and was opened in 1873. Visitors interested in architectural history can therefore find not only resort architecture, but also a specific example of neo-Gothic architecture in the town.
Maritime Experiences and Activities
A small fishing fleet supplies Boltenhagen with fresh fish from the fishing harbour. Those interested in coastal fishing can also consider a fishing trip aboard the Uschi fishing boat. It departs from Tarnewitz at Weiße Wiek, starts at around 6 a.m. and lasts approximately 3 hours. During the trip, participants gain insight into the traditional craft of coastal fishing; they also have the opportunity to take the helm themselves. The approximate start time and duration provide a specific framework for this early-morning maritime experience.
For activities on land, there is the activity park along the Waldpromenade. It is set up as an exercise trail with fitness equipment that visitors can try out while walking around. Alongside beach activities and hikes along the cliff coast, this offers another way to spend active time outdoors.
