Prerow is located within the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park. The coastal region associated with Prerow combines the Baltic Sea, lagoon waters, dunes, coastal forests, and salt grasslands.
Nature and Landscape
The Darßer Ort circular hiking trail runs in sections along boardwalks through alder swamp forests and dune landscapes. At its viewpoints, there are opportunities to observe red deer, wild boars, and a diverse birdlife. At the same time, the viewpoints offer views of the new land formations at Darßer Ort.
The NATUREUM is located about five kilometers west of Prerow. From Prerow, it can be reached by bicycle, horse-drawn carriage, or on foot.
Culture and Townscape
The Darß Museum, centrally located in Prerow, can be reached on foot or by bicycle. It presents maritime history, the lives of fishermen and sailors, regional architecture, and the flora and fauna of the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park.
The Seamen's Church is the oldest church on the Darß and was built in 1726/28. In addition to religious services, it hosts exhibitions, lectures, and concerts.
Carved and brightly painted front doors preserve Prerow's maritime heritage.
Coast and Water
The pier in Prerow is designed for low-barrier access and can be reached from the town center on foot or by bicycle.
Prerow Beach offers opportunities for kitesurfing, windsurfing, sailing, and stand-up paddleboarding.
Passenger ships for excursions on the lagoon waters and to Hiddensee are moored at the harbor on the Prerow Stream.
