Beseritz lies between the small towns of Altentreptow and Friedland, around 20 kilometers from Neubrandenburg, and belongs to the Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake District travel region.

Landscape and Bodies of Water

Beseritz is situated in the gently rolling Werder landscape, a glacial moraine area with several small, undrained lakes. The Tiefer See lake lies in the western part of Beseritz. The undrained body of water reaches a depth of up to around 18 meters and covers approximately 8.1 hectares.

The surrounding area is predominantly agricultural. The municipality is bordered on three sides by the lower-lying floodplains of the Kleiner Landgraben and the Neuer or Mittelgraben.

Mühlberg, Feuerberg, and Galgenberg are located in the immediate vicinity; Katerberg lies in the surrounding area.

History and Culture

Beseritz was first documented under its current name in 1236 and was historically the center of the Land of Beseritz.

The “Beseritz, Village Church” and “Dahlen, Village Church” are located in the immediate vicinity of Beseritz. The Trabbi-Scheune and Quilow Water Castle are located in the wider regional area.
