Between Lake Plätlin and Lake Klenz

Wustrow lies on a hill between Lake Plätlin and Lake Klenz. The landscape includes the Schwaanhavel, a natural tributary of the Havel approximately 3.5 kilometres long. It meanders through alder wetlands and meadows from the Havel-Kammer Canal to Lake Plätlin. Lakes, flowing waters and open landscapes therefore define the geographical setting of the town.

Waterways and bathing area

The Schwaanhavel canoe tour begins in Wustrow, as recommended, and leads across Lake Plätlin into the Schwaanhavel and onwards to the exit into the Upper Havel Waterway. Kanuhof Wustrow rents out Canadian canoes and kayaks, including paddles, life jackets, waterproof dry bags, luggage barrels and waterway maps. Kanuhof also offers an introduction to paddling technique and tour advice.

Kanuhof Wustrow is located directly at the portage between Lake Plätlin and Lake Klenz. There is a small campsite for canoeists and cyclists. For a break by the lake, Wustrow bathing area on Lake Plätlin offers an extensive meadow with shady and sunny areas as well as play equipment. Wustrow beach is also located on Lake Plätlin and is closed to motorboats.

Paths through fields and nature

The Priepert–Wustrow pilgrimage trail stage runs alongside fields and an avenue of oak trees. Along the way, it crosses the road between Wustrow and Strasen. Another hike leads around Lake Trünnsee. Its meeting point is the Trünnsee forest car park on the B122 between Wustrow and Canow, near the turn-off to Seewalde. This hike explores changes in the landscape and nature.

Local history and exhibitions

The local history room in Wustrow's former schoolhouse presents relics and exhibits from the history of the town. It displays historical tools, workbenches, furnishings from bygone times, as well as items from the club life of Wustrow and the surrounding area. The Wustrow local history room is open by prior arrangement at the telephone number 039828 20 131; during the peak tourist season, it has regular opening hours.

The Gallery of Avenues is located in Lindenhaus at Dorfstraße 42. The old stable of the manor house at Gut Drosedow in Neu Drosedow is used for exhibitions and concerts. Neu Drosedow belongs to the municipality of Wustrow. The Helmut Sakowski Reading Room commemorates the work and activities of the writer Helmut Sakowski (1924–2005). It displays his original study with desk, work materials and a small library from his summer house in Pälitzhof.

Architecture in the town

The church in Wustrow was built in 1897 and has round-arched windows characteristic of Neo-Romanesque architecture. Inside, Wustrow village church has a wooden vaulted ceiling in the style of English cast-iron architecture.
