Lüttow-Valluhn: Hotels and accommodations

Near Valluhn, the Boize flows along approximately 5 km of the western boundary of the UNESCO Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve. The Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve has 150 km of designated cycling and hiking trails.

Trails and landscape

The PAHLHUUS in Zarrentin provides official cycling and hiking maps and rents out bicycles and e-bikes. A footbridge over the Boize near Valluhn can be used by cyclists and horseback riders. It provides access to extensive walks, cycling tours, and horseback riding excursions.

Near Valluhn, the Boize was redesigned over 4.8 km through five major and 20 smaller watercourse relocations. At the Valluhn weir, a fish pass enables fish and other aquatic organisms to bypass the weir. Following the restoration work, the Boize developed into a near-natural watercourse with lush underwater vegetation; a beaver has settled along the Boize.

Culture and history

Valluhn was first documented in 1194 as “Vilun” in a record of the Ratzeburg ecclesiastical estates. Valluhn Cemetery is enclosed by a fieldstone wall. Today’s Valluhn chapel was built in 1973 in the cemetery and has a small bell bearing the inscription “M. JÜRGEN WULFF ANNO DOMINI 1634.”

Near Lüttow-Valluhn, sections of the Column Road have been preserved as part of the Green Belt memorial landscape.

In Valluhn, Trakehnerhof Valluhn offers riding lessons and horseback riding excursions. Approximately 2 km from Trakehnerhof Valluhn is a well-developed eventing course where competitions and training events take place. Trakehnerhof Valluhn provides simple guest rooms with breakfast.
