Kogel is located approximately 6.5 kilometres southeast of Zarrentin am Schaalsee and the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve. The Schaal River flows southwards towards the Sude.

Kogel is a municipality in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany, and is administered by the Zarrentin district. The A24 motorway crosses the municipality; access is via the Zarrentin interchange.

History

Kogel was first documented in 1230 in the Ratzeburg tithe register under the historical name Cowale.
