Satow: Hotels and Accommodation

The Early Gothic church ruins of Satow preserve nearly 800 years of religious and cultural history. They are an open-air monument and are among the oldest buildings in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Culture and History

The ruins of the old Satow church were built between 1219 and 1224 in the transitional style from Romanesque to Gothic and are considered the oldest evidence of ecclesiastical architecture in the region. Satow’s present-day church was built after its predecessor had fallen into disrepair: construction work began in January 1864, and the new building was erected at the highest point near the rectory.

In the village of Gerdshagen, there is a restored manor house ensemble with a stable built in 1895. The park has been restored there in accordance with heritage conservation requirements since 2000.
