Rövershagen lies on the southern edge of the Rostock Heath. The forest area separates the municipality from the Baltic Sea. Rövershagen is officially recognized as a tourist destination in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
Getting Around
Rövershagen has a railway station on the single-track main line between Rostock and Stralsund; a branch line to Graal-Müritz branches off from it. The town is also located on Federal Highway 105.
Culture and History
The village church of Rövershagen was built in the first half of the 14th century. It consists of a brick nave, a granite choir and a historic organ dating from 1869.
In the vicinity of Rövershagen are the village church in Blankenhagen, the village church in Bentwisch and St. Mary's Church in Rostock. The Wiethagen Forestry and Charcoal-Burning Farm is associated with a tar distillery that operated from 1837, as well as with a historically operated tar kiln.
Further afield in the region are Glippe and Doberan Abbey.
Experiences
Karls Erlebnis-Dorf Rövershagen offers a craft market, a large indoor entertainment area and more than 50 experiences. The “Trees of the Year” nature trail is also associated with Rövershagen.
Rostock Zoo is located in the vicinity of Rövershagen. Moennichpark is also nearby. Marlow Bird Park is located further afield in the region.
