Haverdal – Dunes, Trails and Beach by the Sea
Accommodation in Haverdal
Haverdal combines a sand drift area by the sea, marked trails and a long beach with various opportunities for active and nature-oriented holiday days. Haverdal Nature Reserve is located in Harplingebukten Bay. Those looking for accommodation can plan their trip according to whether hikes through the dunes, time at the beach, nature observation or a round of golf should be the main focus.
Dune Landscape and Nature in the Nature Reserve
One defining landscape feature is the Stora Sandkullen dune. It rises 36 metres above sea level and offers expansive views over Haverdal Nature Reserve and its surroundings. The Skintan stream is also part of the natural landscape, lined with deciduous trees. Along the stream and around the nature reserve, there is a rich birdlife. Those who want to take time to observe the landscape and wildlife will find various opportunities here, without having to limit their stay to a single experience.
Marked Trails for Different Day Plans
The nature reserve has four marked trails measuring 3.3 km, 3.6 km, 4.6 km and 3.7 km. The trail lengths can help you choose a suitable walk or hike for the day in question. A nature trail also begins in Lynga, with 15 information boards about nature and the area. This allows you to get to know the landscape not only through physical activity, but also through the information provided along the trail.
There is also a dedicated riding trail in the nature reserve, measuring between 3.6 and 4.2 km. Those who prefer a route through several types of landscape can consider the Haverdal–Tylösand section of the Hallandsleden. It leads from Haverdal’s northern shore through the dunes and Haverdal Nature Reserve.
Beach and Practical Information
Haverdalsstrand is approximately 1,700 metres long and stretches from Själarevet in the north to Lynga naturstrand in the south. The beach has an accessible toilet, a dry toilet and a kiosk that is open in summer. This information can help you include a day at the beach in your plans and decide when choosing your accommodation whether the beach or the trails in the nature reserve should be the focus of your trip.
Golf and Historical Traces
Another option is the Haverdal Golf Club, with an 18-hole golf course on sandy ground. The fairways run through open terrain and wooded landscape. Quarrying also formerly took place at Skallen along the northern part of Haverdal. This historical aspect complements the nature and landscape experiences with a glimpse into the area’s former use.
Cycling directions can also be taken into account: at Villshärad, you can turn off the Kattegattleden and follow the signs to the bathing area; bicycle racks are 500 metres away. For further destination options, you can also visit Särdal. Other entries in the same higher-level selection are Steninge, Halmstad, Holm, Villshärad, Oskarström, Getinge and Harplinge.
