Cross-country skiing and club activities in winter

At Näsviken’s ski stadium, the ski section maintains floodlit cross-country trails. The facility is seasonal, giving it a distinct winter focus. During the winter season, Näsvikens IK offers cross-country skiing for children and young people. The ski section also offers ski training, ski competitions and family days with sausage grilling. If you are interested in a specific club activity, check with the club to find out which dates fall within your travel period.

Railway and architectural history

The station house was built in 1888 with two storeys and an attic, when the final section of the railway from Näsviken to Ljusdal was completed. It was designed by the architect A. W. Edelswärd. Its design, year of construction and railway history come together here: the house was built at the same time as this railway line was completed.

The Forsså Bruks Herrgård tells a different story of architecture. The mill manager Paul Birch Burchardt had the building constructed in 1926. It is almost a smaller, mirror-image copy of Selma Lagerlöf’s Mårbacka. The comparison makes its form easy to picture: Mårbacka is the model, but the described resemblance explicitly includes its smaller size and mirrored layout.

Waterways, bathing spots and paddling

Inganbadet in Näsviken has a bathing jetty. The Dellenbanan runs right next to Bad Kaffegruset. If you would like to explore Näsviken from the water, there is also an easy-to-paddle canoe route between Näsviken and Iggesund. Its launch point is on the outer side of the old Malmkajen in Näsviken, where a car can also be parked. The route and launch point are in different locations: the route is the paddling stretch, while Malmkajen is the launch point in Näsviken. As launch conditions may change, check the situation before setting off.

Näsviken Kajak & Fritid organises kayaking trips and offers individually tailored paddling courses for beginners as well as courses to improve technique. The course description thus covers both getting started with paddling and working specifically on technique. Contact the provider in advance for dates and booking options, as booking details may change.

Water and crafts in the local history

The Södra Dellen flows through Näsviken. The town is also home to the Tamms Canal, which P. A. Tamm had built to export iron around the world. These two details offer different perspectives on Näsviken: the course of the Södra Dellen and the history of iron exports.

Textile crafts are also part of the local picture. Hälsinge Linneväveri weaves home textiles from linen, half-linen and cotton, continuing a long tradition of textile craftsmanship in Hälsingland. The regional connection thus extends beyond Näsviken. The range may change.

Information about the Dellenbanan

On the Dellenbanan railbike route, riders in Näsviken must push the railbike over the first bridge because of a track gauge issue. If you are planning a railbike ride, check current access to the route separately.
