Discover Rödeby: Nature, Sports and Culture

Rödeby

In the area around Rödeby, the Blekingeleden trail leads from Mörtsjöåsen to Älmtasjön through a hilly landscape with classic mixed woodland, passing several larger lakes and smaller streams. One section of the trail also passes Stora Havsjön. The lake is located in the Mörtsjöåsen area near Rödeby. This gives the surrounding area various options for days when you want to be out and about or take in a more peaceful landscape.

Trails of different lengths

Between Rödeby and Dackestugan at the ski slope, the trail network includes a 3.0-kilometre illuminated trail. In addition, trail lengths from 1.7 to 13.8 kilometres are available there. If you prefer a shorter circuit, Mörtsjöåsen near Rödeby has a 2.0-kilometre exercise trail. The trails therefore vary considerably in length and give you a clear point of reference when planning either a short route or a longer excursion for your stay.

Winter sports at Rödeby ski slope

Rödeby ski slope is located in eastern Rödeby and has a ski lift and a warming hut. The downhill run is 320 metres long and has an elevation difference of 61 metres. There are two ski lifts at the facility. The cross-country ski trails at Dackestugan and the associated snowmaking facility are known as Rödeby Vintersportcentrum. In the lower area of the ski slope, there is also Klubbstuga, which has a food service establishment that is open on Saturdays and Sundays.

Swimming and sports locally

Rödeby Simhall brings together several facilities: These include a gym, table tennis, a café, a sports hall, exercise trails, tennis courts and a hard court. Simhall also has a heated outdoor pool, which operates in summer. During this period, the indoor pool is closed, while the adjacent outdoor pool is open. At Pulsen in Rödeby, you can play football, basketball, floorball, handball and volleyball, as well as take part in regular fitness and cardio training. Pulsen can be used by anyone in the evenings and at weekends. This allows days focused on culture and nature to be combined with sports or swimming activities.

Rödeby Church as a cultural point of interest

The present Rödeby Church was built between 1875 and 1877 in the Neo-Gothic style. An older church previously stood at the current site; it was built sometime in the 11th or 12th century. Inside is a carved oak altarpiece made by the sculptor Åke Truedsson from Karlshamn in 1673. The church is open on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for prayer, lighting candles and quiet reflection. The stated opening hours refer to these forms of visitation and make Rödeby Church a clearly defined cultural stop.
