Näsum, in the municipality of Bromölla, is a suitable starting point for a wide variety of routes: a longer route through woodland and cultural landscapes, a short circuit around Näsumaviken, and a cycling route along a former railway line. Also nearby are Gudahagen, a site from the Late Iron Age, and Humletorkan, a testament to hop cultivation. If you are looking for a hotel, holiday apartment or holiday home, you can only sensibly assess accommodation options once you have decided which of these destinations will shape your stay.

Three routes with different levels of difficulty

Näsumaleden is 24 kilometres long and is described as suitable for motor vehicles, bicycles and walkers. It runs mostly along gravel roads. In Sibbarpsdalen, it passes waterfalls and the ruins of former mills; at Västanåberget, it goes through woodland with small fields, pastures and stone walls. The route also passes fishing spots. This mix of natural and cultural landscapes can help you plan a day out, but it does not establish that the surface is equally good throughout or indicate a specific travel or walking time.

For a shorter walk, Näsumaviksleden is an approximately 3.5-kilometre circular route around Näsumaviken. The area's flora and fauna are described as particularly interesting. The trail is in the Åsen area, which is associated with the municipality of Bromölla's fossil history, dating back around 80 million years. This gives the short circuit a different focus from the longer Näsumaleden. Before setting out, check the current route and decide which starting point is more convenient for your accommodation.

If cycling is your main interest, Banvallsleden is another option: this approximately 29-kilometre paved route follows a former railway line between Sölvesborg and Olofström. This is a separate cycling route and should not be confused with the gravel sections of Näsumaleden. The distances given refer to the full routes described, not necessarily to the distance from any particular accommodation.

Gudahagen and Humletorkan as historical destinations

Gudahagen in Näsum is a burial ground from the Late Iron Age. It consists of a rectangle reinforced with stones around a natural rise; its sides measure up to 50 metres. The site offers a specific historical point of interest beyond the hiking trails. Its form and dating are described, but current visitor conditions should be checked separately.

Humletorkan was built in 1926 and stands on the road between Vånga and Näsum, on the slope of Västanåberget overlooking the Holjeån valley. At its peak, the facility dried up to eight tonnes of hop cones per year. This is a historical peak figure, not current production. The café described there serves fika, coffee and light dishes adapted to the season; check the current opening hours and actual offerings before visiting.

Choose the right starting point

In the area around Näsum, routes on Skåneleden and Blekingeleden meet in Näsums bokskogar. Several hiking trails are available in the northern part of Ryssberget. This wider area can add to your trip, but it is not the same as the circular walk directly around Näsumaviken. The main page for Bromölla can help you get your bearings in the region.

Choose between the short circuit, the longer Näsumaleden, the cycling route and the historical destinations before comparing accommodation. A place name alone tells you nothing about the route to your chosen starting point, the facilities or availability. Check the specific address and the conditions for your travel dates directly in the listing.
