Landscape

Wałcz lies on the shores of Lake Raduń and Lake Zamkowe. Wałcz County is located in the Wałeckie Lake District and on the Wałecka Plain. The eastern part of Drawa National Park lies in the western part of the municipality of Człopa within Wałcz County.

The county’s landscape includes extensive forests, numerous lakes, protected natural areas, river valleys and hilly terrain. Easy walking routes in Wałcz County include paths along lake shores, routes through wooded areas and paths in river-valley terrain.

Getting Around

Wałcz’s leisure options include an adventure park, beaches and signposted hiking and cycling trails. Wałcz lies at the junction of national roads 10 and 22, which connect the Szczecin–Warszawa corridor with the Słubice–Gdańsk corridor.

The town has a railway station on line 403, with regional services including Piła Główna–Szczecin Główny–Piła Główna.

History and Culture

Wałcz was granted town rights in 1303. One of Poland’s oldest secondary schools, founded more than 350 years ago, is located in the town.
